Before you copy.
Does it work outside the browser?
Yes, for text copied from a supported webpage. SwapText changes the clipboard at copy time, so corrected text can be pasted into native apps on Windows, macOS, or Linux. It does not change text copied from other apps.
Does it work on every website?
Browser settings pages, extension stores, and other protected pages do not allow content scripts. Some custom editors, including sites with their own clipboard handling, may bypass replacements. You must also allow the extension access to the site.
What happens to bold text and links?
With Preserve formatting on, replacements happen inside individual text nodes while surrounding markup is preserved. A phrase split across formatting boundaries is not replaced in that mode. The app receiving the paste also determines which formatting is retained.
Can I use languages other than English?
Yes. Your rules can contain words and phrases in other languages. The interface is in English, and whole-word matching supports Unicode letters.
Can I switch it off?
Yes. Pause all replacements from the toolbar popup, or disable individual rules in the options page. Your saved rules remain available.
